What What Will Happen if You Don't Get Ready for Digital TV

All you hear these days is your TV may quit working after February 17 of this year unless you take action and get ready. The rule is you must install a converter box to your TV, buy a new TV, or subscribe to cable or satellite TV service. So what will happen if you do not do any of these suggestions and you rely on an antenna for local television broadcast service?

Well, here is what you can expect. When you wake up on February 17 next month, you will turn on your TV and get nothing or very little. All full power television stations across the United States will turn off their analog signals and be broadcasting only digital.

The FCC is working on a plan to let a few analog stations remain on the air for one month after this date. However, all they will be doing in displaying a slide or crawl with information letting those who got left behind what has happened.

This means if you still have an analog TV and have not installed the converter box you will not have much if any use for your set. You may get one channel in your area with nothing more than a still picture with writing on it and maybe a little music or a repeating message. You may have a few low-power analog stations you will still be able to receive. Low power stations will not convert to digital until later on. However, construction on their digital upgrade will begin in the near future.

If you do receive low power stations in your area then you probably know they don't have much to offer for entertainment. Most low power TV stations only televise home shopping, religious, and Hispanic programing. I'm not bashing any of that programing, but let's face it! That's not going to be much to select from.

Adding the digital converter box will bring your TV back to life. You will enjoy all of your favorite local channels and more. Not to mention you will enjoy crystal clear images and sound. No more ghost, snow, or static.

People who have already made the digital upgrade are totally amazed at the difference. The digital TV switch is so close now it's scary. Don't be one of those left behind.
